5-STAR is Stray Kids’ third Korean-language studio album and fourth overall. It is a fusion of hip-hop, pop, and electronica genres that showcases the group’s unique and quirky musical style and identity. The album was produced by 3Racha, a sub-unit of Stray Kids consisting of members Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, who also wrote all the lyrics for the album. They collaborated with various songwriters and producers such as Versachoi, Chae Kang-hae, Restart, Zack Djurich, Millionboy, Trippy, Nickko Young, Kyle Reynolds, Chris LaRocca, and Jun2, as well as member Felix who participated in composing and arranging some of the tracks.
The album also features a guest appearance from legendary Korean rapper Tiger JK on the track “Topline”, which is a tribute to his influence and legacy in the Korean hip hop scene. Another highlight of the album is “The Sound”, which is the Korean version of the title track from Stray Kids’ first Japanese studio album of the same name that was released in March 2023. The album also includes “Mixtape: Time Out”, which is part of Stray Kids’ Mixtape Project that features songs that were previously unreleased or performed only during concerts.
With their outstanding achievements on Spotify and other music platforms, Stray Kids have cemented their status as one of the leading 4th Gen K-Pop groups in the global music industry. They have also demonstrated their versatility and creativity as artists who can produce their own music and express their own messages through their songs.
