Jennie Ruby Jane, the actress and singer who rose to fame as a member of the K-pop group BLACKPINK, has recently sparked speculation that she might be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Luna Snow, a superhero with ice powers.
In a video interview posted by HBO Max on their Twitter account, Jennie talked about her acting debut in the drama series The Idol, where she stars alongside The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, and Troye Sivan. When asked what she wants the world to know about Jennie Ruby Jane, she said: “This is just the beginning.” She then winked at the camera, leaving fans wondering what she meant by that.
The next day, Dispatch Dipe, a Korean entertainment news outlet, reported that Jennie is in talks to star in a Marvel TV show called Team Agents of Atlas, based on the comic book series of the same name. The show will feature a diverse team of superheroes from Asia and the Pacific, led by Jimmy Woo, a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp and WandaVision.
According to rumors, Jennie is expected to play Luna Snow, a character who was created for the mobile game Marvel Future Fight in 2018. Just like Jennie, Luna Snow is a Korean pop singer and a Super Hero who uses her ice-manipulation powers to protect people in the Pacific Rim and across the World.
The report claimed that Jennie and Marvel have been negotiating for almost a year now and that Jennie is very interested in the role.
However, neither Jennie nor Marvel have confirmed or denied the rumors yet. Fans are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from either side. If the rumors are true, Jennie will be the first K-pop star to join the MCU and one of the few Asian female superheroes on screen.
