TWICE, one of the most popular K-pop girl groups, has sent fans into a frenzy with a mysterious new poster that hints at a solo debut. The poster, unveiled on social media at 12AM KST on June 5, teases an exciting project titled “Killin Me Good” scheduled for August. While no official confirmation has been made, fans are speculating that Jihyo, a talented member of TWICE, might be the next to embark on a solo career.
The speculation stems from a striking similarity between the hand in the teaser poster and Jihyo’s own hand, as noted by observant fans who recognized her distinct blue nail polish and a golden ring. If the rumors hold true, Jihyo would follow in the footsteps of Nayeon, who released her successful solo album, “Im Nayeon,” last year.
The Excitement Builds:
The online community erupted with excitement as the news of a possible Jihyo solo debut spread like wildfire. Fans eagerly recalled Jihyo’s past social media posts featuring identical nail polish, adding fuel to the speculation. While this remains purely fan speculation for now, it has undoubtedly generated tremendous enthusiasm among TWICE’s dedicated fanbase.
Nayeon’s Solo Success:
Nayeon’s solo debut with “Im Nayeon” was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. Released on June 24, 2022, the EP showcased Nayeon’s versatility as an artist, blending various genres like R&B, dance, disco, jazz, and ballads. The album’s themes resonated with listeners, exploring self-confidence, overcoming hardships, love, and heartbreak. “Im Nayeon” reached the pinnacle of the Circle charts and even broke records internationally, becoming the first album by a South Korean soloist to enter the top ten on the prestigious Billboard 200. With over 57,000 pure physical sales, Nayeon emerged as the highest-selling female act of 2022 and received a double platinum certification from the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) for selling over 500,000 physical copies.
MISAMO Subunit’s Upcoming Debut:
In addition to the solo endeavors, TWICE is also rumored to be launching their highly anticipated subunit, MISAMO, this year. Comprising three talented Japanese members, Sana, Mina, and Momo, the subunit aims to showcase a unique musical style and dynamic performances. Fans can look forward to their debut in July of 2023.
