If you’re a fan of K-pop and fashion, you might have noticed that two of the most stylish idols in the industry have something in common: their love for YSL. WayV’s Ten and BLACKPINK’s Rosé have both rocked outfits from the French luxury brand that feature a striking accessory: a black veil.
Ten Lee, who is a member of NCT and its Chinese sub-unit WayV, attended the Saint Laurent Men’s Summer 2024 show in Berlin on June 12, 2023. He wore a see-through black hoodie from the Fall 2023 menswear collection, which had a black veil attached to the hood. The veil added a mysterious and edgy vibe to his look.
The K-pop star’s outfit caught the attention of many fans and fashion lovers, who praised him for his unique and daring style. Some also noticed that his outfit reminded them of another YSL muse: Rosé of BLACKPINK.
Rosé, who is the global brand ambassador for YSL, has worn several outfits with veils from the brand in the past. She wore a hooded dress in crepe jersey with a black veil for her GQ Korea magazine shoot in December 2022. She also wore a similar black outfit with a veil at the LACMA ART+ Film Gala in November 2022.
Fans pointed out that not only their outfits are similar, but also their aura and blonde hair. They commented that both Ten and Rosé look stunning and elegant in YSL, and that they suit the brand’s image of androgynous and modern chic.
Ten has been in a long-term professional association with YSL, as he has attended several of their events and shows since 2021. He has also modeled for their beauty line, YSL Beauty Libre, and made a special appearance at their pop-up launch in Penang, Malaysia in March 2023.
Rosé, on the other hand, has been officially announced as the global brand ambassador for YSL in March 2020. She has since appeared in various campaigns and editorials for the brand, as well as attended their shows and events around the world.
Both Ten and Rosé have shown their admiration and respect for YSL’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello, who is known for his structural precision and interplay between masculine and feminine elements. They have also expressed their gratitude for being able to work with such a prestigious brand.
The Saint Laurent Men’s Summer 2024 show that Ten attended was themed “Each Man Kills The Thing He Loves”, and presented an array of sharp silhouettes, prints and couture fabrics. The show was held at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, a museum known for its emphasis on cubism and Bauhaus style. Other stars who graced the show included GOT7’s Mark Tuan and SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan.
